this forum amazes me, or maybe ...
why am i writing? because this is just too absurd, the opinions voiced here seem like they were taken out of some cartoon - are you guys for real? of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinion ... so here's mine.

for one:
this fascist talk - we haven't learned anything, have we? being german, i may react a bit touchy on that subject, though wih the american history, i should think noone could see this as a good, constructive way for a country wanting to interact with others - unless, of course, you intend to isolate the US from the rest of the world, turn it even more into a world on it's own. hey, why don't you build a giant glass orb around it, so nothing can come in - and leave the rest of the world in peace? (now that was ironic, in case you didn't get it)
your view on "your" history is something else ... so you say the white people (accidentally - which people? seems to me there were quite a view mixed together ...) fought the indians fair and square. ... ok ... so there were these people, with big ships, guns, canons, bloodhounds ..., coming to a new country who, though being welcomed by most of the indiginous people, just wanted more, needed more space. when they found out that the indians couldn't fight their diseases, they "generously" distributed infected blankets ... horded them across the country into reservations where, unlike in their original land, they couldn't grow their food ... they sterilised young women, not telling them what they were doing, and those are just a few examples - and you sincerely believe that that was "fair"? i hate to have you as an umpire ...
about affirmative action - sure, there will always be unfair decisions taken, and maybe there are some "quotas", be it women, disabled or colored people, that will get a job not because they are better. the goal of this though is to incourage these minorities to strive and achieve the same standards and qualifications so finally they can really compete with the majority. an example: if in 1700, a woman would have wanted to work, lets say as an entrepreneur - what a laugh! so women didnt' even try to rise to that position back then, because it was out of their reach anyway. yes, eventually, they made it part of the way. so AA can only help to get there faster than it took women to get to today's situation. mind you, it's still not an ideal situation, but that's because things have to change in people's heads, too ...

next - languages:
now i do understand that people who have problems spelling their own language are afraid of learning a new one ... yes, i am referring to americans. i have lived in the states and during that time and the many written messages i have read over the years (including chat rooms ...), i'm sorry to say that spelling seems to be a real problem. i'm NOT saying this is a sign of missing intelligence, NO, it's just an error in the education system. anyway, i have two nephews in the US and i'm really glad that they have the chance to grow up bilingual - what an asset to their future! ok, i do agree that a country's native language should be mandatory, that means every immigrant should be given the opportunity to learn the language and have to prove he/she is doing just that. but to ban the other languages??? how narrowminded and shortsighted is that?! again, i think maybe you have to move to an isolated island to be at peace, since foreigners and their cultures seem to frighten you so ... oh, and while you're at it - ban pizza, french fries and beer!
it really amazes me how you speak of "your" traditions in that context - i mean, "your" traditions should be manyfold, since your country does not have "one" background and "one" tradition or definite roots. personally i think that's why so many americans travel to see the "old" world, because you're without roots - and that's pretty frightening, so let's cut the roots of those d... foreigners too, at least then we're on an even footing, right? (irony, again!)

well, there's more, but i do have to get some serious work done, so i'll end here.

p.s.: the pentagram's the best! do you remember what they used to do with it's worshippers ...? nice touch ... no, seriously, you're all kiddin' me here, right?!

Hell No. As I said "POLITICS IS A SERIOUS SUBJECT".

If you're a German then you should NOT have confused Fascism with Nazism, they are NOT the same thing at all. No Fascist, NOT Il Dux, NOT General Franco, NOT Juan Peron nor Saddam Hussein, ever herded Jews (a holy race, blessed by their tribal God) into slave labour camps then murdered them enmasse. That honor belongs to YOU Germans and YOU alone.

So, German, hear me well, REMEMBER that Fascist's are NOT Nazi's, Adolf Hitler, YOUR countryman, created that stinking sect on his own.

Yes well, there are those Christians who would light the stakes of old Salem again if they could. The Christians are narrow minded, red- necks. That's not a reflection on the "Pentagram", the symbol of the United Fascist Union, it's a reflection on Christian bigotry. You're a fine one to talk German, your Swaztika is a mystic, occult symbol is it not?

Jack .. you are right about the swastika. I was once a passenger on an Indian ship going from Bombay to Cochin and the ship,s flag was a swastika. It is a symbol of good to millions of good people.

The American Indians used it, so did the Indians in India. It means life and death depending on which way the arms of the cross face. It, like our Pentagram, has been a Christian symbol at times. Both are used in high math. They're so ancient no one knows who invented them or why but, it's thought they were imported from Atlantis & Hyperboria after the place sank.

The Swaztika, has a long history as a symbol amoung the Germans, Hitler wasn't the first German statesman to use it as a political symbol, his only real claim to fame (as far as the symbol goes) is he made it a national state symbol, whereas Germans have always used this sign, for one thing or another, even from the time when they were tribes. Although Mr. H. would probably roll over in his grave at the thought (if he was actually in a grave), the Hapsburgs used it in a very minor function in the 1700's.

I do not like symbols nor flags nor great leaders. I think these often result in blind acceptance or a non-thinking response. A salute often means obediance or slavery.

I can agree with that up to a point, as we remember what Dr. Goebbels was able to do with flags and symbols.

But, only to a point. People need leadership, they need guidance, as the human being is after all, another form of an animal and so cannot be left in limbo.

But the leaders should try to guide the evolution of man towards his own Angelic aspects, to cultivate the God within everyone. These blind leaders of the age of Pisces cultivate the cave-ape in the human, knowing that the cave-ape if presented with a choice of good or evil, will choose evil every time.

Oh my god, coronary, thank you. I have pretty much given up on this forum, it seems sometimes that it's all trolls here and I wasn't gonna feed 'em, but your post was stellar.

Cheers. glad to see there's more than trolls and sock puppets here... try the other forums though, this one is getting ridiculous. I wouldn't vote for either of those two for dogcatcher.

glenn - you mean this wasn't a joke after all?!
... how sad and spooky ...
yup, i was going to check out the other forums anyway, i just couldn't pass on this one though i knew it didn't make any sense to "discuss" things here - discussions need open minds and it seems this is just a forum to post political views without the will to expand one's horizon.
good point you had about healing the wounds of the past, actually.
well, so long in some other forum maybe.

(hey, and don't insult the trolls, they're a minority *g*)

I think you are wasting your time directing protests at Grimes. He is open in his beliefs but there millions of Americans(and Australian,etc() who hide their racial and religious prejudice and intolerance under the cover of hypocrisy. For example , they will hate people from a certain nature and say "they stick together" etc. Grimes has probably the same amount of prejudice and intolerance as the majority of the population,

in a way you are right: at least he doesn't hide his face so what you see is what you get and you can openly decide to not vote for this one.
no, i'm not trying to convince him of anything either - waste of time. i just felt the urge to express my opinion regarding his statements - because some poeple, through ignorance, actually trust his judgment and follow his lead without as much as doubting his informations.

i'm convinced that besides the freedom of expression, one of the most important rights is the freedom of doubt.
it's a right, a privilege and a duty!

i think that a lot of people are just too lazy to form their own opinion. they'd rather take one that seems to fit and slip it on. like in a drive-through - oh no, let's not think about whether there might be other sides to the story. they could get my pre-formulated opinions all in a muddle and would shake up my save little world!

but enough said, otherwise we would give to much emphasis to these "politicians" and their views.
